Boating with Baby

My family and I recently purchased a boat! Our daughter had never been out on the water, but we already had an infant life jacket and were ready to go. As it turns out, owning a large selection of baby gear has tremendously helped make our day trips smoother, especially with a toddler!

Our daughter takes most of her naps in her crib at home daily, so I was unsure how well a boat nap would go. So we brought the Dream On Me travel crib along and used bungee cords to secure it inside the cabin. Between the sway of the ocean, the travel crib, and a portable sound machine, she was out immediately. Two hours later, with four halibut on the boat, we had a well-rested baby ready to play!

Aubrey, my daughter, woke up at lunchtime. I had brought a folding highchair, the Baby Delight Go-With-Me, for lunch on the deck. It was nearly a 90-degree day out on the water, so the sunshade was so handy! It has a small tray and folds up in a small bag, so bringing it along on adventures is very convenient.

This experience had me thinking about how versatile our gear rentals can be! Whether you’re a local or just visiting, you might not want to buy a $200+ pack n play for a day out on the water with family or friends. So instead, you could rent one for $7 or $10 a day, depending on the style.

We’ve been so lucky with such a beautiful summer this year. Now that we own our family-size boat, we will only increase the number of family memories we can make on it. Our first trip was a success, and I can’t wait for more!
