Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

My family and I just returned from taking our one-year-old on her first international trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! We spent two weeks at an all-inclusive resort. Relaxing in the sun and playing in the water every day. Previously to having a baby, my husband and I enjoyed the fast pace travel life. Exploring all the small surrounding towns and trying all the street foods. We realized quickly that this trip would be a little slower than what we are used to but so much sweeter watching our daughter learn to love travel as much as we do! Packing seemed so daunting before we left. I felt nervous and overwhelmed by the number of items a baby seems to “need.”

We brought the Guava Lotus, a travel size pack N play. It was great for travel; it converts into a backpack and is lightweight. The Guava Lotus is an item we are currently renting out. Although I enjoyed having it, I wish I had the option to rent a similar item where I was. For the next international trip, I will be sure to try and rent! There was a local babyquip renter, but she was just getting started and didn’t have many items when we were going. I think a highchair during our travels would have made a difference as well. We made many snacks in the room and sometimes breakfast. Trying to feed my one-year-old on the floor with a plate or on our lap was frustrating. We’ve noticed high chairs have been renting more recently as well, which makes sense now because I wish I had found one to rent! Traveling through the airport was a breeze because we brought our BOB stroller. Although this is an item we have for rent, I was happy I had mine with me because it made the airport so much easier to travel with. We have several airport-friendly strollers much smaller than the BOB that I will probably try out next time, and I hope someone can take advantage of trying them out too! Even though renting wasn’t an option for us in Puerto Vallarta, I feel excited to provide these essential items to families who don’t want to pack all the significant necessities when traveling with one or several children!
